Aha Moments
Each morning there is one vital moment when we all experience a massive change in consciousness. We are plunged from one reality into another at the exact moment the alarm clock goes off, and we are frightened awake. What is less noticeable is that we spend the rest of the day in an awakened dream. Some days are more dreamlike than others. We know its like a dream because we seldom stop to think or do anything much different from yesterday, or last week. We are on autopilot and the sharpness of our conscious awareness is dulled. Most people continue through life much like this, until they bump up against something or somebody, and the pain of living, which was always there, becomes too loud. But even then we grow accustomed to that pain, usually at a mental/emotional level, and carry on...soldier on, as some would say, thinking this is the way it must be. But some are fortunate enough to stop and say "What is this, why am I miserable, or why can't I see, or feel, any joy in life?" And that is the beginning of the first and most important AHA moment. Curiosity is awakened by discomfort, and the search is on. The real alarm clock of pain has been heard, and the real awakening has begun...at last. Careful. Don't fall asleep again! You are awake aren't you? Or does your life feel like a waking dream. Perhaps you like the pain?
